About Alpha Chi Omega
"Together, let us seek the heights."
Alpha Chi Omega, also referred to as A-Chi-O or simply Alpha Chi, was founded on October 15, 1885 at DePauw University in Greencastle Indiana. Currently there are 133 active chapters with members exceeding 200,000.
Alpha Chi's mission statement is, "Enrich the lives of members through lifetime opportunities for friendship, leadership, learning and service," and is emblified in all it's members and potential sisters.
Literally translated, Alpha Chi Omega means, "Beginning and (kai) End," as the founders were the first to form a fraternity for the school of music and thought it to most likely be the last.
The sorority's symbol is the lyre to represent it's musical origins, and its colors are scarlet red and olive green to represent it's creation during autumn.
